چکیده

Conventional fluoroscopy is the main imaging technology that allows for intracardiac device manipulation in a variety of interventional cardiovascular procedures. Besides the associated x-ray exposure for patients and staff, that technology only provides 2D orientations. Therefore, 3D mapping technologies have been introduced to facilitate spatial orientation within complex cardiac anatomies. Especially in interventional electrophysiology (EP), theses technologies have become clinical routine applications.1,2 However, until today, such technologies represent independent systems unrelated to the most fundamental real-time catheter visualization provided by fluoroscopy. We report the first in-human application of a new mapping technology allowing 3D EP catheter tracking in full integration with conventional fluoroscopy imaging.

A Method for Catheter Navigation within Realistic Three-Dimensional Cardiac Anatomy

We recently combined noncontact mapping and intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) in a single cathetersystem that permitted detailed, single-beat, 3-D electricalanatomical imaging of the heart. In the present study we developed a nonfluoroscopic electrode-catheter localization method and integrated it with noncontact electrical-anatomical imaging. The difference in nonfluoroscopic electrode locat...

Ablation of atrial fibrillation using novel 4-dimensional catheter tracking within autoregistered left atrial angiograms.

BACKGROUND We describe a novel fluoroscopy coregistered, 4-dimensional catheter tracking technology (MediGuide Technology [MGT]) used for treatment of patients with atrial fibrillation. The aim of the study was to investigate (1) the feasibility of nonfluoroscopic catheter manipulation within dynamic left atrial chamber models; (2) the integration of the technology into an established electroan...

EnSite Velocity cardiac mapping system: a new platform for 3D mapping of cardiac arrhythmias.

Accurate understanding and visualization of the mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmias originating from a complex 3D substrate are a prerequisite for successful treatment of such disorders. Nonfluoroscopic cardiac mapping systems are designed to provide the required spatial anatomical information in combination with local electrical information. During recent years, the EnSite system, with its EnSit...

A nonfluoroscopic approach for electrophysiology and catheter ablation procedures using a three-dimensional navigation system.

BACKGROUND Three-dimensional (3D) electroanatomical navigation systems decrease the fluoroscopy time of electrophysiology and ablation procedures. The aim of this study was to assess the safety and efficacy of a complete nonfluoroscopic approach for electrophysiologic studies and right-sided catheter ablations for supraventricular tachycardia in patients with normal cardiac anatomy using a 3D, ...

Reduction of fluoroscopy duration in radiofrequency ablation obtained by the use of a non-fluoroscopic catheter navigation system.

AIMS Radiofrequency (RF) ablation requires placement of several catheters at critical positions. The catheters are positioned with fluoroscopy, resulting in a significant radiation exposure. We have investigated to what degree an intracardiac navigation system reduces the fluoroscopy duration in different groups of routine RF ablations. METHODS AND RESULTS The fluoroscopy time was evaluated i...
